With the arrival of autumn, the unforgettable grace of teachers is celebrated. On the occasion of the 41st Teachers' Day, to uphold the tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education and to promote a culture of teaching with integrity, the Labor Union of the College of Geological Engineering and Geomatics held a special Teachers' Day event themed "Integrity at Fingertips, a Lantern's Warmth for the Heart." The event took place on the afternoon of September 10 in the meeting room of the Yellow River Science Research Institute. Ouyang Tao, the college's Party Deputy Secretary, Vice Dean, Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, and Chairman of the Labor Union, gathered with over 40 faculty representatives to celebrate and discuss the virtue of integrity.

The lotus (莲, lián) is revered as the "gentleman among flowers," while integrity (廉, lián) is the core moral principle for a teacher. This event ingeniously used the homophonic relationship between lotus and integrity, deeply integrating the spirit of incorruptible self-discipline with the sacred mission of fostering virtue through education. The goal was to remind teachers to adhere to their professional ethics, remain true to their original calling in education, and practice their profession with integrity, just as the lotus "emerges from mud yet remains unstained, cleansed by pure ripples yet not seductive." This serves to fortify their ideological and moral defenses against corruption.
A rich variety of craft materials were prepared for the event. In a harmonious atmosphere, the teachers collaborated enthusiastically, skillfully crafting lotus lanterns. From bending wireframes and attaching petals to affixing leaves, each step was carried out meticulously. One by one, the beautiful lanterns took shape, showcasing the teachers' dexterity and zest for life beyond their rigorous academic work. The room was filled with warmth and cheerful laughter.
As the event drew to a close, the teachers illuminated the lotus lanterns they had crafted. A soft, warm glow flowed from the petals, symbolizing the light of integrity and compassion illuminating their educational journey. Holding this "Lantern of Integrity" with its profound meaning, and complemented with flowers prepared by the college, they smiled for a heartwarming group photo.

This event brought together representatives including non-Party members, newly-hired faculty, young teachers, and Party-member teachers. It not only provided a platform for them to cultivate their artistic interests and alleviate stress but also enhanced the college's cohesion and the teachers' sense of belonging. Through this elegant and engaging activity, a culture of integrity was promoted, resonating deeply with the faculty and injecting profound cultural momentum into the high-quality development of the college.
